{"id":76,"date":"2020-12-02T17:26:42","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T06:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/staugbalmain.cathcomm.org.au\/?page_id=76"},"modified":"2024-03-26T14:07:38","modified_gmt":"2024-03-26T03:07:38","slug":"sacrament-of-confirmation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/staugbalmain.org.au\/sacraments\/first_reconciliation-first_eucharist-confirmation\/sacrament-of-confirmation\/","title":{"rendered":"SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\" id=\"sacrament-of-confirmation-2022\"><strong>Sacrament of Confirmation<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"111\" src=\"https:\/\/staugbalmain.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/th-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-517\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">We would like to thank you for considering the Sacrament of Confirmation for your child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>The Sacrament of Confirmation confirms and strengthens the gift of the Spirit received at Baptism,<br>draws us deeper into the life of the Trinity and completes one\u2019s initiation into the Catholic Church.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Once a student enters Year 6 or above and has received the <em>Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation &amp; First Eucharist<\/em> they are eligible to receive the Sacrament of <strong>Confirmation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prerequisites:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Candidates are in Year 6 or above at school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend St Augustine&#8217;s or St Joseph&#8217;s on a regular basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates have been baptised and celebrated their First Reconciliation &amp; First Eucharist. A copy of all celebrated Sacraments provided with enrolment form if not completed at St Augustine&#8217;s or St Joseph&#8217;s parish. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each candidate is expected to participate in a 4-week <strong>preparation program<\/strong> prior to the Sacrament ceremony day. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sacrament Date 2024 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This year the sacrament of Confirmation will be held on <strong>Sunday 18 August 12.30pm at St Mary&#8217;s Cathedral. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preparation classes will be held at St Augustine&#8217;s Church straight after the Sunday 5pm Mass on the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>21 July, 28 July, 4 August, 11 August<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please click <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1t8vaTa-1Kf_txIKnnEJTDCgISl6T3giGc-cc-cSn_CM\/edit\">here<\/a> to enrol your child<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sponsors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sacrament of Confirmation requires the candidate to choose a person to be their sponsor. This person cannot be their parent, must be at least 16 years of age and a confirmed Catholic who is a witness to the faith. As Confirmation is linked to Baptism, ideally the sponsor would be one of your child\u2019s godparents. If this is not possible, another sponsor may be chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Confirmation Ceremony&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Children are not required to buy special outfits for the Sacrament, however they are required to dress appropriately. A general guide is how they would dress to attend a family wedding. Boys should be in long trousers (not jeans), dark shoes (not runners), collared shirt. Girls should be in a knee or ankle length dress or slacks (not jeans), with hair neatly arranged.
